PRAYER: We praise You, O God, for the great acts of love by which You have redeemed us. As He was acclaimed by those who scattered their garments and branches of palms in His path, so may we always hail Him as our King and follow Him with perfect confidence. Amen.

THE WORD
FIRST LESSON: Zechariah 9:9-10
Believers are told to rejoice because their King and Savior is coming. He is almighty and will be victorious over His enemies even though He will come gently, riding on a donkey.
PSALM OF THE DAY: Psalm 24 on page 73
All believers rejoice and welcome their king as he comes to them. We lift up our heads as we see our salvation approaching.
God is our stronghold and sure defense who will take us to eternal life when our life on this earth comes to an end.
SECOND LESSON: Philippians 2:5-11
Jesus, our Savior, is Lord of all. He did not display His glory while on this earth. He became our humble substitute and died to save us.
GOSPEL: Luke 19:28-40
Jesus enters Jerusalem to complete the work of salvation. A humble donkey carries Him as the crowd shouts joyfully “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord.
