HYMNS: 241, 177, 236, 238 vs 1-2

ORDER OF SERVICE: The Common Service, page 15ff

THE WORD

FIRST LESSON: Numbers 6:22-27

The Lord instructed Moses to put His blessing on the Israelites in a threefold benediction which we still use today.

PSALM OF THE DAY: Psalm 150 on page 122

The glorious nature of our Triune God, and “the acts of power” He has accomplished for our salvation, will inspire our endless praise.

SECOND LESSON: Romans 5:1-5

God the Father justifies us through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This faith is planted in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. The completeness of our salvation worked by the Triune God gives us hope we rejoice in.

GOSPEL: John 16:12-15

Just before His death, Jesus comforted His disciples with the fact that God the Holy Spirit would lead them into the full truth of salvation and implant Jesus in their hearts to make them right with the Father. This is exactly how the Trinity brings salvation to people today.

THE SERMON: Matthew 6:9

THEME: Address the Father in Praye

OUR FATHER’S BUSINESS

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL is being planned for this summer. Please set aside August 15-19 in the evenings. VBS has a Western theme this year.

CLASS REUNION Pastor plans to attend a class reunion (high school) this week, leaving Tuesday and returning on Thursday. In case of emergency, please contact Pastor Robert Hellmann at 675-3201. We will have midweek worship service as normal.

NEW MEDITATIONS are available in the narthex. They have a nice devotion for each day of the week.

DEAD SEA SCROLLS visit is being planned for Friday, July 9th. Bus will leave here at 3 PM. Ticket prices are $22 (group rate), $18 for those 60 and above and children 4-12. We will divide up the cost for a 47 passenger coach (55 if necessary). We will need to send in check for the tickets early in July, so we will need to be collecting the payments in June.

GRADUATES Do you have a college or high school graduate in your family? Let Pastor know. They will be acknowledged and we will have a special prayer next Sunday in church as well.

MEMORIAL DAY comes up this weekend. We pause to thank veterans for their service to our country and to honor those who have died. Paper lists a number of Memorial Day activities.
