FIRST LESSON: 1 Kings 17:17-24

God demonstrated His power over death when He raised the widow of Zarephath’s son in answer to Elijah’s prayer.

PSALM OF THE DAY: Psalm 30 on page 76

Even in times of sorrow, we realize that our God has the power to turn our “wailing and dancing” by fulfilling His good purposes.

SECOND LESSON: Galatians 1:11-24

Paul relates his miraculous conversion—a journey from spiritual death to eternal life. This is a death to life story to which we can all relate.

GOSPEL: Luke 7:11-17

Christ exhibited His divinity by raising the widow of Nain’s son when His compassion was aroused and “his heart went out to her.”
