THE WORD

FIRST LESSON: Joel 3:12-16

The Lord calls His enemies to assemble and advance. Let them do what they will. He sits on his throne and He is the Judge. The forces of darkness are many, but their destruction is as sure as the fall of ripe grain before a sickle or grapes under a press. For those who trust in the Lord, He is their shelter and refuge.

PSALM OF THE DAY: Psalm 18 on page69

The Lord is worthy of our trust. He has delivered His people from the hands of their enemies.

SECOND LESSON: Romans 8:26-27

When God’s saints are suffering, sometimes they don’t know what to pray. Her we have the gracious promise that God the Holy Spirit prays on our behalf.

GOSPEL: Matthew 13:24-30,36-43

In righteous zeal, Jesus’ followers have been tempted to destroy the enemies of God’s Church. Final judgment of the wicked belongs to god and His angels on the Last Day.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will be August 10-14^th this summer (Sunday through Thursday) from 6-8 PM. It is for kids four-years-old through going into grade 8. The theme is “Soaring HIGH!” If you can help pout out door hangers, please see Pastor Smith. Invite unchurched children in your neighborhood to our VBS! This is a great way to reach out with the gospel to families in our community!

AREA NEWS Calvary Lutheran Church in Glenwood invites us to the ordination and installation of its first full-time pastor in many years, recent seminary graduate Brian Koschnitzke on Aug 3 at 4 PM. Also on Aug 3 at 4 Pm is the installation of Pastor Steven Daley at Petra Lutheran Church, Sauk Rapids. He comes to Petra from Riga, MI.

UPCOMING VOTERS’ MEETING items include some maintenance items including new shingles for parsonage (old ones have been on for 23 years) and for main part of church (replaced 15 years ago).

LUTHERAN HOME AUXILIARY This group of men and women helps support the work of the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. The annual meeting will be on Weds, July 16, at 10 AM at the Home in Belle Plaine. Registration and coffee hour will be at 9:30 AM. The day includes project selection, elections and lunch. Dawn Simonson will give a talk on “The Mysteries of Medicare.” 12:30 PM lunch.
