THE WORD

FIRST LESSON: Deuteronomy 30:9-14

Moses reminds the Israelites, who were on the threshold of the Promised Land, that God would never be far from them if they followed God’s Word.

PSALM OF THE DAY: Psalm 25 on page 74

Especially in times of crisis, God’s people seek to be guided in God’s truth. We look to the Lord our refuge.

SECOND LESSON: Colossians 1:1-14

Paul thanks God for the faith of the Colossians—faith that springs up from the gospel and prays that God would fill them with the knowledge of His will to provide strength for fruitful lives.

GOSPEL: Luke 10:25-37

Christ’s parable of the Good Samaritan asserts that the important question for the Christian is not “Who is my neighbor?” but rather “To whom may I be a neighbor?’

THE SERMON: Matthew 6:12

THEME: Lord, Teach us to Forgive

Note: We are celebrating Holy Communion today. The Sacrament gives public confession of our unity in the Christian faith as we joyfully receive Christ’s body and blood in and with the bread and wine. Since we follow the Scriptural practice of “close communion,” we ask visitors to see pastor before coming to communion.

LUTHERAN NIGHT AT THE TWINS is scheduled for Weds Aug 18^th. Pastor has more information.

QUARTERLY VOTERS’ MEETING is scheduled for next Sunday, July 25^th after church.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL is being planned for this summer. Please set aside August 15-19^th in the evenings. We will have a Western Theme. INVITE UNCHURCHED CHILDREN TO OUR VBS. VBS is a good outreach and mission opportunity.

WEST LHS Golf Tournament will be on Monday, Aug 2^nd at Wild Marsh here in Buffalo. Final registration is due by July 23^rd.

THE LUTHERAN HOME Association Foundation is sponsoring its first bus trip to Vicksburg Mississippi from Sept 18-25^th 2010. They will also stop at places like Graceland, Branson and the Gateway Arch.

THE LUTHERAN HOME ASSOCIATION AUXILIARY Meeting is scheduled for Weds July 21^st. See flyer in bulletin.

THANKS to Pastor Robert Hellmann for conducting the service on Weds evening. Pastor will be going to Trinity on some Tuesdays.
